Such innovative music demanded an equally innovative approach to its choreography which to this day remains stunning & beautiful.

The story revolves around the princess Odette, who has been turned into a swan by the evil sorcerer Von Rothbart. Each night she & her companions enjoy a few precious hours as human beings. On one such occasion, she meets & falls in love with Prince Siegfried. Will her prince be able to rescue her? Swan Lake is above all a love story. From hope to despair, from terror to tenderness, from melancholy to ecstasy, this ballet will take you on an unforgettable journey. Only true love can break the evil spell that makes Odette, a swan by day & a beautiful maiden by night. Prince Siegfried must choose a wife, but will the wicked magician fool the Prince by disguising his daughter as the beautiful Odette?

Swan Lake was 1rst performed at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow, Russia on February 20, 1877 & remained in the repertoire until 1883. After Tchaikovsky's death, the ballet was revised by his brother Modest & the conductor Riccardo Drigo. The version of the ballet that audiences around the world are familiar with today was staged in 1895, featuring choreography by the legendary Marius Petipa & Lev Ivanov. This is one of the great classical ballets with timeless popularity. This beautiful story of tragedy transcended by love & memory will be performed by the Russian National Ballet Theatre with a full orchestra. The ballet was the great composer Tchaikovsky’s first experience with ballet & theatre. With more than 50 dancers, the Ballet has focused on upholding the grand national tradition of major Russian ballet works.  Swan Lake embodies the spirit of classical perfection, an enchanting fairy tale of everlasting love; Tchaikovsky’s beloved classic is overflowing with lyrical romance & dramatic grandeur.
