This classic 1920's musical “The Drowsy Chaperone” is narrated with sinister enthusiasm by a tweedy musical theatre fanatic who stops throughout to praise or mock certain scenes & to provide lurid details about the performers' sad real lives.

The Drowsy Chaperone is a witty love letter to the extravagant musicals of the 1920s, with music and lyrics by Lisa Lambert & Greg Morrison & a book by Bob Martin & Don McKellar. The Drowsy Chaperone depicts with much affection such characters as the glamorous showgirl (Tony Award-winning Sutton Foster), who is gives up the stage for love & marriage; her debonair fiancé (Troy Britton Johnson); her world-weary & scene-stealing chaperone (Beth Leavel); the nervous best man (Eddie Korbich); the dotty dowager (Georgia Engel) who owns the estate where the wedding is to take place; the dowager’s sardonic servant (Edward Hibbert); the scheming producer (Lenny Wolpe) who doesn’t want to lose his star; & the dizzy chorine (Jennifer Smith) who’d like to replace the star. Adding to the fun are a Latin lover (Danny Burstein), a pair of gangsters posing as pastry chefs (Jason Kravits & Garth Kravits), & an aviatrix (Kecia Lewis-Evans). Ruses are played, hi-jinks occur, & just before the plot spins completely out of control everyone zeppelins down to Rio for a happy ending.
